VAELTORN
THE LONG-LEGGED PATHFINDER
An uncommon hairless pursuit-scout native to Elarion Wildcore. Long legs, quiet broad feet, keen senses and learned route memory let a bonded Vaeltorn cross forest lanes at speed. It is an advanced animal with real limits—not a supernatural mount.
First revealed: Book 1, Chapter 5

HORSE
THE ROOTMERE WORKING EQUINE
Rootmere’s domesticated equine working companion, raised for travel, carrying and daily settlement life. Realistic hooves, mane, tail, herd awareness and ordinary care needs define the species; every named horse retains its own coat, build, temperament, tack and bond.

CREATURES & FAUNA
DISCOVERED THROUGHOUT THE SAGA

VARCHEN
THE MASSIVE SCENT GUARDIAN
A massive long-haired guardian and scent-detection animal used by skilled Mossbreak handlers. Broad paws, powerful shoulders and a disciplined working bond let a Varchen track, protect and focus with the group. It is living fauna—not a magical monster.
First revealed: Book 1, Chapter 5

HARE
THE ROOTMERE FOREST PREY
An ordinary long-eared Rootmere prey animal with powerful hind legs, wary behavior and grounded herbivorous biology. The unwounded hare found inside the warning line in Part 3 is an individual anomaly—not a supernatural species baseline.
First revealed: Book 1, Chapter 1, Part 3

NHARROK
THE MOONLESS NIGHT HUNTER
A rare giant nocturnal hunter native to Elarion Wildcore. Black hairless hide, amber low-light eyes, sensory crests and an immense tearing jaw support moonless pursuit of large game. Each expert Huntkeeper partnership is earned; a Nharrok is neither pet nor demon.
First revealed: Book 1, Chapter 5

CROW
THE ROOTMERE FOREST AVIAN
An ordinary black bird of Rootmere forests and settlement edges, built for natural flight, calls and wild behavior. The motionless intact crow examined in Parts 2–5 is an individual anomaly and must never be mistaken for the normal species.
First revealed: Book 1, Chapter 1, Part 2

WOLF
THE NATURAL CANINE PREDATOR
Rootmere’s grounded canine predator, represented most prominently by Ashguard. Realistic wolf anatomy, sharp senses and ordinary biological limits remain fixed, while Ashguard’s massive black coat, amber-gold eyes and protective Velmara bond belong to him alone.
First revealed: Book 1, Chapter 1, Part 1

SAIRIL
RARE WOODLAND FAUNA
A rare rat-sized woodland creature with a compact dark feather-scale body, narrow reptilian head, amber-gold eyes, four legs, a separate pair of feathered wings and a long feathered tail. Short flights reveal teal, blue, violet, copper and gold iridescence in natural light; its biology, wider range and purpose remain unknown.
First revealed: Book 1, Chapter 2
