THE WEAPON
A man-portable, two-handed longarm approximately one metre in length. It is compact, dense and forward-weighted, built for deliberate adult handling rather than rapid or casual use. Within the story it reveals the technological depth of Rootmere’s past and the dangerous inheritance carried by the Velmara family.
CONSTRUCTION & VISUAL IDENTITY
• Layered matte-black ceramic-composite and black-metal plates over a dark internal frame.
• Short, broad circular emitter muzzle—not a conventional rifle barrel.
• One recessed cylindrical Redspar stabilization chamber, dark red and unlit while dormant.
• Worn leather-covered stock, wrapped two-handed grip and old practical sling.
• Scratched, field-aged and carefully maintained; no readable markings, runes or ornament.
• No scope, magazine, exposed bullets, holographic display or modern accessory rails.
OPERATION & LIMITS
Aren’s Ironfire projects a concentrated kinetic-thermal pulse in a brief red-white discharge. It is intended for short-to-medium-range last-resort defense, not ordinary hunting, intimidation or display. One major discharge must be followed by an extended cooling period. A rushed second discharge may burn the operator, rupture the Redspar stabilizer or permanently disable the weapon. Its exact power source, range, charge method and remaining safe discharges are not yet established.
VELMARA CUSTODY
The weapon passed into the Velmara inheritance through Aren Velmara and is now maintained by Henna. Henna can inspect, preserve, carry, aim and operate it through inherited practice, but he cannot reproduce or rebuild its sealed Ascendant technology. Its leather repairs and careful maintenance mark it as a family burden and practical enemy-made tool, never a trophy or sacred object.
STORY RECORD
First reader-facing reveal: Book 1, Chapter 1, Part 2. Henna opens the Aren Locker and performs an external inspection while Yasmin and Leya receive their first uncovered view. At the Part 2 handoff the weapon remains wrapped, secured, dark, cool, dormant and unfired. Later activation, carriage or firing is not yet established in the published story.
